This generic English copy of Lange`s Paramount Tenor was made by or for Rushworth and Dreaper, a large musical instrument manufacturer and retailer in Liverpool, UK. They had their name on everything from violins to pianos and I remember their building in the city centre from the fifties. The build quality is very high and I have even seen one listed as a Paramount Imperial Ardeton Supreme. I find it difficult to accept that Lange would have agreed to have one of his banjos made in England by R&D but perhaps he was faced with a "fait accomplis". The only difference is the Paramount Tailpiece and the Imperial peghead cover.
Once again I know of a five string version, and any further information is welcome. |
